Location: Lafayette Indiana

Description: Indiana University Health is employing Surgical Technologist (Certified) Arnett right now, this position will be placed in Indiana. Further informations about this position opportunity please read the description below. This position exists to provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. The incumbent ensures the presence and proper arrangement of equipment and supplies in the operating room prior to each operation and to maintain readiness for emergency procedures at all times. The incumbent assists the surgeon during the operation as allowed by professional and legal standards. The surgical technologists clean the operating room after the operation, ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equip! ment, and used material and restocking the rooms and equipment! . The incumbent is a member of the surgical team and works with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and registered nurses. Direct patient care is given under the direction of the RN. This position reports to the department/unit Clinical Manager. QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
Current CPR Certification.
Knowledge of various surgical and obstetrical procedures in order to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and to recognize the problems encountered by the surgeon.
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
Knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served.
Ability to set priorities and manage a high workload within limited time for completion.
Knowledge of procedures and standards! related to patient care activities.
Knowledge of principles of infection control.
Ability to perform physically demanding; repetitious movements.
Ability to read and perform basic math.
Ability to attend to details.
