The Medical Instrument Technician position is located in Anesthesiology Service
Tour of duty will be: 10Am -6:30 PM M-F, or, 8AM-6:30 PM, Ten h! our shifts, with Thursday for an off day.
Functional Statement
Duties of the AnesthesiaTechnician position include: performing support to anesthesiologists,surgeons, and nurse anesthetists and subordinate technicians; maintaining anesthesiology supplies and equipment; setting-up anesthetizing locations;operating, monitoring, calibrating anesthesia related equipment; using non-invasive patient monitoring anesthesiology equipment. In some cases, Anesthesia Technicians perform equipment preventive maintenance/repair. The technician assists anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in routine and difficult anesthetic procedures under minimal supervision. The technicians connects and operates invasive hemodynamic monitoring equipment, blood and fluid warmers, anesthesia machines, ventilators, intubation bronchoscopes, ultrasonic scanning devices and patient warming devices. The technician assists in moving and positioning patients for procedures and moving and! placing equipment. The technician exercises a high degree of independe! nt judgment in anesthesia technology duties. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

English LanguageProficiency . Medical Instrument Technicians must be proficient in spoken and written English inaccordance with chapter 2, section D, paragraph 5a
Preferred Experience:
Demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities outlined in your resume:
1. Knowledge of the correct use of invasive patient monitoring equipment specific to anesthesiology.
2. Knowledge of basic electrocardiography(EKG).
3. Skill and ability to troubleshoot equipment, often while the patient is anesthetized.
4. Skill and ability to maintain sterility during procedures.
5. Knowledge and understanding of arterial pressure line wave forms including the ability to recognize and di! stinguish normal from abnormal, artifact from abnormality, and forewarn the physician or anesthetist of an impending life-threatening situation.
6. Knowledge of anesthesiology supplies, medications, and equipment appropriate to more difficult anesthetic procedures such as those found in inpatient settings with more acutely ill patients.

GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
GS-7 grade level experience with the following- aids anesthesiologists and nurseanesthetists in less-complex anesthetic procedures such as regional anesthesia(epidural and spinal), laryngeal mask anesthesia, and monitored anesthesia careunder close supervision. Technicianswill exercise minimal independent judgment in anesthesia technology duties.
GS-8 grade level experience with the following- assists anesthesiologists and nurseanesthetists in routine anesthet! ic procedures under general supervision. The technician will connect an! d operatenon-invasive hemodynamic monitoring equipment, blood and fluid warmers (e.g.,Hot Line and Ranger) and patient warming devices (e.g., Bair Hugger). Thetechnician will exercise moderate independent judgment in anesthesia technologyduties.
