Overview:
As the Wine Buyer, you will be responsible for selecting, sourcing, and procuring a diverse and high-quality selection of wines for our company. Your expertise in wine trends, industry knowledge, and strong negotiation skills will be instrumental in curating a captivating wine portfolio that aligns with our target market and enhances our customers' experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Wine Selection and Procurement:
- Conduct market research and stay up to date with wine trends, emerging brands, and new releases.
- Identify and build relationships with reputable wineries, distributors, and suppliers to source a diverse range of wines.
- Evaluate and select wines based on quality, taste, market demand, pricing, and brand reputation.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure favourable purchasing agreements.
- Manage inventory levels and ensure optimal stock levels to meet customer demands.
Supplier and Vendor Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with wineries, distributors, and suppliers.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and tastings to network, discover new wines, and strengthen partnerships.
- Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate favourable pricing, promotional opportunities, and exclusive offerings.
- Monitor supplier performance, quality, and consistency to ensure adherence to our standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the sales team to provide product knowledge, training, and support.
- Work closely with the marketing team to develop wine-related content, promotions, and educational materials.
- Communicate regularly with internal stakeholders to align wine selection with business goals and customer preferences.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Wine Buyer or similar role in the wine industry.
- In-depth knowledge of wine regions and grape varietals.
- Proven experience in wine selection, procurement, and portfolio management.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and market insights for decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and wine inventory management systems.
