JOB LOCATION: The Registered Nurse position is located in Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana
JOB DUTIES:
- Coordinates Surgery Schedule in cooperation with Anesthesiologist and Clinicians to expedite patient care in a safe and timely manner.
- Makes daily work assignments bases on the acuity of the patients and qualifications of the staff.
- Makes appropriate ongoing staffing adjustments and coord! inates the activities of subordinate personnel.
- Assists in coordinating nursing and patient care activities of assigned area with other hospital units. Relays information regarding needs, problems, or movement of patients in order to ensure more efficient operations and more efficient total patient care and services.
- Makes regular patient rounds assessing patient progress and evaluating patient care being provided. Advises and provides resource assistance to nursing staff as necessary.
- Handles unusual or sensitive inquiries from family members and other outside individuals regarding patient condition. When appropriate, provides comfort and consolation to distressed individuals.
- Promotes and facilitates team approach in the delivery of patient care. Works to enhance working environment.
- Works to coordinate staff in-services and continuing education.
- Participates in the interview process of potential new employees.
- Orders, credits, charges for patient/unit equipment and supplies, tests and procedures as congruent with needs as necessary.
- Orders all special order non-stock items utilized in OR/ASC/PACU/Endo. Oversees PAR levels on all items and product availability.
- Coordinates all Clinician requests for instrumentation, supplies, equipment and staffing needs.
- Reviews daily and monthly departmental reports for accuracy.
- Organizes and coordinates yearly inventory. Maintains an accurate and appropriate PAR level for the department throughout the year.
Two years of nursing experience preferred
EDUCATION:
Associate's degree in nursing required
Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
LICENSE:
State! of Indiana Licensure as a Registered Nurse required
ACLS, PAL! S, NRP trained where required
