JOB LOCATION: The Registered Nurse position is located in Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana
JOB DUTIES:
Obtains and records initial assessment and establishes priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs
Assesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention! ; implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to! patient needs
Circulates, scrubs, or assists on invasive procedures and assumes float responsibilities as assigned
Opens, sets up, and closes OR suite properly for surgical cases; cleans equipment and room furniture, as well as damp dusts flat surface items
Ensures that suction, power, and lights are in proper working order
Anticipates and ensures that all necessary and requested equipment is available and in proper working order; ensures that the anesthesia cart and machine are stocked
Acts as a resource person for special equipment or procedures
Orders, credits, and charges for patent/unit equipment and supplies congruent with needs
ASC/PACU duties as assigned
Completes documentation on the surgical check off list, assessment sheet, and the recovery room report sheet; includes all indications of care given including treatments, medications, and responses to both
Checks for pertinent lab, X-ray, medical, or surgical information and repo! rts findings to surgeon, anesthesiologist, and OR room personnel
EXPERIENCE:
Two years of nursing experience preferred
EDUCATION:
Associate's degree in nursing required
Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
LICENSE:
State of Indiana Licensure as a Registered Nurse required
ACLS, PALS, NRP trained where required
SKILLS:
Ability to remain attentive to needs of the surgical team and assists anesthesia as needed
Ability to perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis and emergency situations
Utilizes effective communication strategies, which result in intended outcomes
Remains flexible to changing systems, job descriptions, and the patient care needs of all units
Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcome
