ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Dental Anesthesiologist is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, quality dental care to our patients.
- Provide leadership and direction to Associate Doctors and dental assistants in all areas of sedation
- Provide full range of sedation services safely to all Kool Smiles patients
- Ensure every treatment plan is reviewed with each patient and / or parent and informed consent must be obtained for treatm! ents rendered
- Educate patients and parents about their maintaining oral health
- Appropriately and safely administer dental anesthesia to limit the amount of patient discomfort experienced by patients during procedures
- Adhere to all federal and government regulations, including the state dental board rules and regulations regarding anesthesia care, HIPPA and OSHA regulations
- Evaluate medical history and take blood pressure prior to all procedures provided
- Adhere to Kool Smiles Quality Assurance Metrics as indicated in the Expanded Services orientation manual along with the guidelines of the ADA
- Ensure training and development of staff by identifying training needs and establishing initiatives to meet company/individual objectives
- Conduct behavior in a manner that is professional and courteous to all patients, parents, and office staff at all times
- Mentor Associate Doctors on both treatment planning guidelines, and post op care recommendations
- Maintain a consistent schedule in response to patient need
Education, Training and/or Experience
DDS/DMD from a dental education program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation
Completed a Dental Anesthesiology Residency program

- A current, valid license to practice dentistry in the state where providing patient care along with any specialty degrees available (License must be in good standing)
- Malpractice insurance
- CPR/ACSL/PALS Certification (current before start date)
- CDS (in states where applicable)
- NPI provider number (in place before start date)
- DEA number (application submitted before start date)
- Other certifications as required by the state
Nature of work requires an ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with patients, their parents, and staff. Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds and be able to twist, turn, bend! and stoop.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Majority of w! ork performed in a clinical environment. Hours may change to meet the business needs.
