DSS Patient Care Technician

Location: Newburgh, Indiana

Description: Deaconess Health System is at the momment seeking for DSS Patient Care Technician right now, this occupation will be delegated in Indiana. Assures necessary equipment in room such as IV pump/pole, suction canisters, vital sign equipment, thermometer, pulse oximeter, a! nd ambu bag.

„P Assists with A.M. and P.M. care and other general patient care as directed by RN and as required by care center/unit, i.e. assisting with or complete bathing including mouth care, facial and hair care needs, skin/back care, and Foley care. Properly labels and places dentures, hearing aids, and glasses in safe location. Removes Ted Hose for bathing with skin observation and reapplies appropriately. Provides skin care minimum of every two hours.

„P Observation, and reporting of any changes or concerns to RN in a timely fashion. Completes bed making. Removes all dirty linens. Restocks supplies in room at appropriate PAR Levels. Removes all unused equipment and returns to proper location. Assists with or turns patients at risk for skin breakdown by positioning extremities, floating heels, and applying lotion.

„P Satisfactorily performs duties as they relate to Ethics, Cultural Diversity, Confidentiality, Age-Specific Growth and D! evelopment, and Customer Service issues.

Answers call lights and responds to patient’s requests in appropriate and courteous manner.

„P Sets up meals and assists with feeding patients following guidelines for prescribed diet. Distributes drinking water and other nourishments.

„P Hourly Rounding as part of the multidisciplinary team as identified in unit standard of care.

„P Assists patients in use of bedpans (fracture and regular), urinals, hats and BSC.

„P Provides postmortem care.

Job Qualifications:
Setup, operation, general maintenance and troubleshooting of the video equipment, anesthesia machines, and patient monitoring equipment.

„h Troubleshoots anesthesia machine, monitor and in-room connection malfunctions. Initiates work orders. May perform minor repairs.

„h Assists with physical plan inspection and equipment inventory.

„h Assists with set-up of invasive monitoring lines.

„h Performs preoperat! ive checklist on all anesthesia machines daily.

„h Places anesthesia machines in appropriate location, establishes electrical, central gas supply, central monitoring and scavenging connections.

„h Assembles and set-up items needed for induction and maintenance of anesthesia machine as requested by anesthesiologist.

„h Provides needs list for special order anesthesia supplies to the Operating Room Inventory Coordinator

„h Performs unit support duties and preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative duties.
